Overcoming Complacency

Ostrich-man-head-in-sand

Merriam-Webster defines complacency as “a feeling of being satisfied with how things are and not wanting to try to make them better.”

I love comfort. I prefer easy. I enjoy relaxation. I default to painless. I desire trouble-free. The problem with the previous is that I have not been called to those characteristics of life. God has called me (and his children) to a passionate pursuit of Himself. Have you ever noticed that when we are in full-on coasting mode, the temptations of life are at there highest?

Tomorrow, at the Wakarusa Missionary Church, we are going to take a look at a major character in the Old Testament who was not as engaged in life as he should have been. He ultimately found himself dealing with a long list of consequences because of it.
God has called us to live alert, to live with purpose, to live with focus. Is it easy? Nope. Is it natural? Nope. Does it require discipline? Yep. Can we overcome complacency? You bet!
See you tomorrow at the Wakarusa Missionary Church!
