Soul Care Series, Part 1

"Caring for ourselves is an act of honoring the temples God has given us." - Debra Filta Soul Care

Many of us enjoy the idea of starting fresh, but the reality is that New Year’s resolutions often don’t last. We’ve all set ambitious goals, only to lose momentum and find ourselves saying, “I’ll start again on Monday.” Instead of clinging to this resolution mindset, let’s embrace the new year as an opportunity to be resolute.

"Resolute" means being purposeful, determined, and steadfast.

As followers of Jesus, we can embody this resoluteness through practices and rhythms that nurture our souls, ultimately enhancing our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. By drawing wisdom from Scripture and the life of Jesus, we discover these rhythms that God designed to help us lead a complete life in a fractured world. Our hectic lifestyles often result in feelings of emptiness, exhaustion, and burnout, which are not aligned with God's design. Rather, God's plan and Jesus' example guide us on how to live a fulfilling life, even in the face of challenges and adversity. As Jesus states in John 10:10:

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full"

I invite you to join us on this journey. In our first week, we will assess why we as Christians often struggle with the idea of self-care. We will discuss how prioritizing soul care can profoundly influence your marriage, children, family, friends, career, and ministry, creating a ripple effect that enhances every aspect of your life. Finally, we examined how our beliefs about self-care were shaped by our family of origin and how they modeled or did not model soul care.

Are you curious, or wondering why this is important? Take a listen to this week's episode on @HOME the Podcast as I share my testimony and struggle with soul care. And those of you looking for a Deeper Dive follow along by reading or listening to: SOUL CARE by Debra Fileta
