I have said that if I was to write a book (which by the way is an extremely far fetched idea) that I would write about the power of the if/then statements of the Bible. I have always been intrigued by cause and effect, choice and impact. For example, if I invest in my relationship with my wife, then I will have a strong, healthy and happy marriage. If I eat ice cream at every meal in 2017, then I will need new clothes in 2018. If I save my money, then I can buy that Harley-Davidson® FLSTF – Softail® Fat Boy®. (<= see what I did there Shana Knight).
One of the more “famous” if/then statements of the Bible is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 where God is offering His children the opportunity to receive healing and restoration in their relationship with Him upon a series of conditions. If the people will humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from their wickedness; then He will hear from heaven and heal their land. The opportunity for impact was within their control. The choice was theirs. If they wanted to see a change, then they needed to make a move.
Tomorrow, Pastor Adam Wachtman and I are going to be speaking on the topic of prayer. The Wakarusa Missionary Church has been given an incredible opportunity to pray for our students this next school year via our Pray 4 Me campaign. The impact potential is huge, but the choice is ours. How will you answer when a student asks you, “Will you pray for me?”
